FOSTERING

Hello fellow NARPO members, my name is Steve Mathers I retired from Notts Police in November 2004. Prior to retiring, I worked on the Child Abuse Unit for about 12 years and as such worked with Social Services. During some inquiries, it became apparent how desperately short of Foster Carers Social Services were.   In November 2001 whilst I was still a serving officer, my wife and I became Foster Carer’s for Nottinghamshire County Council and we have continued to be foster ever since.

We have found it such a rewarding role and have no plans to retire from it yet.
At present, there is a real shortage of foster carers in Nottinghamshire, should anyone wish to consider this worthwhile role then I would be pleased to talk with them and offer an insight into what is involved. Please contact me via email at stevemathers@sky.com and I will get back to you.

PHILIP HOGG

It is with sadness that I have to inform you of the death of Philip Hogg who passed away over the weekend.  Our thoughts are with the family at this time.

We will circulate the details as soon as we get them.

MALCOLM SIMONS

Malc lives in East Leake (retired dog man) 74-75 yrs old.  He is in the first stages of Parkinson’s and is becoming forgetful and absent minded.

I was just wondering if any of his ex-colleagues would be willing to drop in on him and have a chat if they’re not too far away?

His wife Sue feels the chat and company would do him the world of good.

I’m sure she’d be happy to speak to anyone if they want to contact her on 07791 749240
