Hello fellow NARPO members, my name is Steve Mathers I retired from Notts Police in November 2004. Prior to retiring, I worked on the Child Abuse Unit for about 12 years and as such worked with Social Services. During some inquiries, it became apparent how desperately short of Foster Carers Social Services were. In November 2001 whilst I was still a serving officer, my wife and I became Foster Carer’s for Nottinghamshire County Council and we have continued to be foster ever since.
We have found it such a rewarding role and have no plans to retire from it yet.
At present, there is a real shortage of foster carers in Nottinghamshire, should anyone wish to consider this worthwhile role then I would be pleased to talk with them and offer an insight into what is involved. Please contact me via email at email@example.com and I will get back to you.
