  1. So sad to hear of the passing of ‘Barney’. I served with him at Beeston from 1965. He was an immensely likeable and funny man and a ‘ Good Bobby’ My condolences to his family

  2. I am so sorry to hear that we have lost another great character. I spent many years with Barney, both operationally and in training. We both competed at police dog and civilian trials and had such great times, both having the same sense of humour. He will be sadly missed by many people! My very sincere condolences to all his family.

  3. Dear secretary, Dad’s (Barney) police service. Just a couple of amendments, I think he would have preferred it to be correct. Having completed his training at Panel Ash he spent a very short period at Mansfield Woodhouse before transferring to Beeston. He moved to Sutton for several years. He then successfully applied for the dog section where he enjoyed many years with his dogs. He spent a very short time in the Force control room and the Guildhall cell block. He completed his service back at OSD this time on Force support.

  4. Can l also say that whilst yesterday was a sad day to finally say goodbye. It was a celebration as he wanted. I was so please to see so many people in church, it was packed. Also to hear the many comments at his celebration after, about Brian and the things that happened in his youth and at the NCB, in the police, whilst in Scotland and more recently at our alternative home in Norfolk. A couple of weeks ago Brian told me he had not done much with his life. Well he had, and now l know in so many way how, he made a lifelong difference to so many, in a good way. And it is often the little things that mean so much, and that for me is why l loved him so very much.
Thank you friends in NARPO for all your support during these past difficult weeks.
