Hi everyone at last I seem to have resolved my computer problems.

I am now in the process of updating the site and all recents deaths will be placed on the Obituaries Page.

I have sent out details for the Annual Dinner on the main NARPO site at Donotreply NARPO if you have your name down for the Dinner and have not received the email, please get back to me and I will resend.

Hopefully this site will be upto date by this evening

Death of a Member

It is with regret that I have to inform you of the Death of Thomas Wheeldon which has occurred overnight.

Assistance Sought

Syncopate Media is a media production company based in the Midlands and have made a range of commissioned programmes. We are developing a story idea around the 1984 / 85 miners’ strike, in particular we’re wanting to tell the story from the point of view of the police men and women who were working during the time of the strike in Nottinghamshire. 
 
I have already made contact with a couple of retired policemen, who worked during the strike and who didn’t support the strike. I would also like to speak with one or two (men or women), who worked and who did support the striking miners. We’re interested in speaking with anyone who; had an opinion about the striking miners, in being known as ‘Thatcher’s Army’, or who had a strong opinion about the strike then, that has now changed.

RETIREMENT DO

I wonder if you could help me. My husband is soon to retire and wants to invite retired officers that he has worked with to a celebratory drink. Although he clearly is not a member of Narpo yet I am and I wondered would it be possible to pass on the following message through Notts Narpo?

Dave Lowe (358) is retiring after 30 years service and would like to invite the friends he’s worked with and made along the way to join him for a drink. He will be at the Navigation Inn next to Notts Country Ground From 5 pm on Friday 19th October. Look forward to seeing you there.

DEATH OF A RETIRED OFFICER

Malcolm Terence Stevenson  (Terry)

 

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of

Malcolm Terence Stevenson, aged 79 years, a retired Police

Officer.  His collar number was 1387.             Terry died on 10th

September 2018.

 

The funeral is at 11.00am Friday 28 September 2018 at Rainworth

Primitive Chapel, Southwell Road East, Rainworth NG21 0EA

There will be a burial in the Chapel’s cemetery.   All are welcome.

The Undertaker is D J Hall, 62 King Street, Southwell NG25 0EN

 

Any donations can be made via the Undertaker or at the Service

to a charity yet to be named.

 

Terry served in the Army prior to joining the County Force in 1962.

He served at Mansfield, Newark, and Southwell.   He retired in 1988.

DEATH OF A RETIRED POLICE OFFICER

Brian Charles Offler

 

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Brian Charles

Offler, aged 83 years, a retired Police Officer, who died on Thursday 20th

September 2018.    His collar numbers were 514 and 1314

 

The funeral is at 11.30am Thursday 11 October 2018 at Mansfield Crematorium.

The Undertaker is A. Wass, 10 Priestsic Road, Sutton in Ashfield, NG17 4EB

 

Donations via the Undertaker or at the Service to the Air Ambulance and the

Red Cross.

 

Brian joined the County Police in 1956 and served at Arnold, West Bridgford,

Sutton in Ashfield and Scenes of Crime.   He retired in 1986.

There will be refreshments after at 281 Restaurant, Nottingham Road

Mansfield. NG18 4SE .  All are welcome.

THURSFORD TRIP

Thursford Christmas Show

 

Due to a cancellation, I have two tickets for the Christmas Show at Thursford.

The trip is on Monday 19th  November until Wednesday 21st.  Staying at the Prom

Hotel at Great Yarmouth.

Includes 3 nights dinner, bed, and breakfast, the Thursford Show and a journey

on the North Norfolk Railway .  There is entertainment in the hotel in the evening.

The price is £209. 00 per person and the pickup points are at Mansfield, Hucknall

Death of a Retired Officer

Edwin (Eddy) Morley

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of a retired Police Officer, Edwin Morley, aged 82 years, who died on Thursday 6 September 2018.

The funeral is at 10.30am Wednesday 19 September 2018 at Gedling Crematorium.

The undertakers are the Co-operative Funeralcare, 69 Gedling Road, Carlton, NG4 3FG

Donations to Cancer Research and Maggies Centre at the City Hospital via the undertaker or at the Service.

Eddy joined the County Police in 1963 and was given the No. Pc 358 which on amalgamation was amended to Pc 1158.    He served at Arnold, Carlton, Bingham, Hyson Green and Kimberley.  He was the collator at Carlton and the Crime Squad at Kimberley.        He retired in 1993.

There will be refreshments after at the Elwes Arms Public House, on Oakdale Road, Carlton NG4 1DH.       All are Welcome.
