Royal Patronage

It gives me great pleasure to announce that HRH The Princess Royal has very kindly agreed to be our Patron in our Centenary year of 2019.
The Patronage will be for 2019 only and I would add that NARPO is extremely proud and delighted to have secured Royal Patronage as NARPO celebrate its Centenary.

Planning is well underway for our Centenary events which include a Centenary Dinner at The Tower of London on Thursday 13th June 2019 and Branches have already been informed of ticketing details.

Further information regarding our Centenary events can be found on our website at:

This page will be updated as and when further details and information become available.

Understanding Universal Credit

DWP has launched a new website, to help people understand what Universal Credit means for them.

Understanding Universal Credit was created in response to requests from customers and partner organisations for more information about Universal Credit.

The site helps people find out what benefits they should be claiming, and provides more detail about how Universal Credit (UC) can help them move into, or progress in work.  There is also a section for organisations who advise their customers about Universal Credit.

With clear content and easy to follow navigation, this site will be a valuable source of information for both customers and organisations.

Customers should still continue to claim Universal Credit via GOV.UK .  There are links to this page and support for how to fill out the claim form on the new Understanding Universal Credit website.

Historic Case

I am an assistant producer with Peninsula Television and we are making a documentary for CBS, UK, about the Christopher Scott case. He raped two girls in 1992 but despite an extensive media appeal he was never caught until 2017, thanks to the extensive and patient investigation by Nottinghamshire Police and advancements in DNA. Our programme focuses on how great detective work paired with the use of forensic sciences solved this case.

I am looking to get in touch with the police officers who were part of the original investigation teams but as it was in the 90s it is difficult to find their names. We would really like to interview them for the documentary. Their persistent investigation led to Christopher Scott’s conviction.

The case was covered on Crimewatch in 1992 and 2008.

if anyone comes back to you, please ask them to email me with their phone number  and I can call them to chat through the details. We are aiming to film the documentary in two weeks.

Many Thanks,

Daisy

Police Federation Group Inurance Scheme

For Members of the Police Federation Group Insurance Scheme, not the NARPO Travel Scheme

I offer this as a bit of info that members may not be aware of with reference to the group insurance scheme run via the Fed and Narpo via Philip Williams insurance. This concerning the travel insurance element. I have just checked with them directly concerning a forthcoming holiday I am taking. If you have pre-existing medical conditions the only reason you have to now inform them they tell me is:

1. If a doctor has advised you not to travel abroad.
2. If you have been diagnosed with a terminal condition or illness.

I just thought this might be of use to others, who like me wonder where they stand.
