Information Sort

Hi, I am a retired ex officer from SYP currently residing in Scotland but looking to relocate to either Retford or Worksop I used to live in Blyth. Since my final retirement I have taken up golf and was enquiring if there was an active NARPO golf scene at either Retford or Worksp?

EARLY DAY MOTION POLICE WIDOWS

Prior to the last election NARPO members were encouraged to support an Early Day Motion  raised over the plight of Police Widows who, because of remarrying or ‘co-habitation’ had lost or stand to lose their full widows pension. Because of the last Election the EDM fell.

Below is a very simple link for you to support a petition to encourage the Government to give equality to certain widows in our ‘family’ of NARPO. It will take just a couple of seconds to log your support and also to send it round your friends should you wish to do so. We are up to 117,000 signatures help us make it past the 150,000.

SOCIAL CARE GREEN PAPER

Dear All,  PLEASE ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO ACCESS THE TOOLKIT AND CONTACT THEIR MP

The government has announced it will publish a major consultation on social care this summer. It will be called the Social Care Green Paper and will shape the future of the social care system for years to come. It will be a hugely important consultation document for older people and their families.

NARPO has been working with our partners in Later Life Ambitions to ensure that your views are represented to the government when the Green Paper is published.

We are therefore asking our members to use our new toolkit, which we have developed to help you contact your local MP and tell them about the measures you would like to see the government announce.

The toolkit is available online here and contains further details about the Social Care Green Paper and the recommendations Later Life Ambitions would like to see. If you have any questions please contact Later Life Ambitions via laterlife@connectpa.co.uk

Death

Rod Constantine requests the following be posted

I believe that towards the end of last year Narpo followed the efforts of Sonia Kendall, a retired Enquiry Counter Clerk at The Guildhall, in doing a sponsored swim to raise monies for the Children’s Cancer Ward at QMC having been diagnosed with terminal cancer. Sonia sadly passed away at home on 8th March.
I have spoken to Sonia’s husband, Pete (who used to be one of the motor cycle mechanics at Nottm Traffic Wing) and thought that some form of notice would have been put on our Narpo Website. If Sonia meets the criteria for this to be done, can a notice please be done informing folks of her death and funeral details of Cremation at Bramcote Crematorium on Monday 26th March at 11.45am. Lymns of Beeston are officiating.
I know this is now short notice for something to be done, if anything can be done. Pete Kendall’s number is Nottm 922 6268 should he need to be contacted. Thanks.
