John Evan Meredith

 

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of John Evan Meredith, aged 85 years, who died on Tuesday 20th March 2018.

The funeral is at 3.30pm on Friday 13 April 2018 at the Gedling Crematorium, on Catfoot Lane.  The Undertaker is C. Terry, High Road, Bulwell, NG6 8NU.

Donations to the Burns Unit at Nottingham City Hospital via the Undertaker or at the Service.

John enlisted in the Royal Marines for three years before joining the City Police in 1957.    He served at Bulwell, in C.I.D. the Regional Crime Squad, Special Ops Unit and finally as a Liaison Sergeant at the Crown Court.   He retired in 1987.

There will be refreshments after at the Mellish Rugby Ground on Mapperley Top, all are welcome.

  1. John Meredith Sgt 535 was my first Sgt when I joined in 1975 and stationed at Hyson Green. Taught me the basics about first shift breakfasts!! RIP John

  2. A supremely confident sergeant whose confidence rubbed off on others. He’d make me smile when asked how things were; he’d reply with his own John Meredith response- “Chocolate, just chocolate”. Sadly missed.
