  1. I was saddened to read of Johns passing, he was my sergeant for a couple of years in the late 70’s at Southwell. A genuine nice man, practical in his approach to the job. We got into a few scrapes, had some laughs too. RIP John.

  2. I first met John at Newark in 1970. He was a DC & I was a cadet.
My first posting in 1972 was to Southwell & he came there as Sergeant.
He was such a nice bloke. He guided me well & I learnt a lot from him.
We went our different ways but I remember those times with great fondness.
I seem to think the next time I saw him was on Bargain Hunt on the TV.
    He always had a smile.
    RIP my friend
