It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector George HIBBERT 94yrs who sadly passed away in hospital yesterday the 20th March 2025 after a short illness.
George joined the Police Service in September 1955 and retired in September 1985 in the Rank of Inspector. I do not have his service history at this time .
He leaves his wife Audrey, daughter Susan, sons Stephen, Andrew and Alan, 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.
It was George’s wish that there will be no funeral or mourning and his family will comply with his wishes. He will have a Direct Cremation at a time and date to suit the family and the appropriate Funeral Services.
Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family at this very sad time.

I worked the beat at Newark with George in 1962. Together with Tony Saddington they were legends in that town. I was always proud to walk down the steps on Appleton Gate when working the night shift with him. Helped him and his family move from Newark when he was transferred to Retford Division and we remained friends throughout my service. I hope that we are still recruiting officers like you George as I know that the job will be in good hands. You will be greatly missed. Sincere condolences to Audrey and family. R.I.P. John Hopley.
