Retired Detective Constable 463 Gordon (Geordie) HARRIS sadly passed away at his Costock home on the 13th February 2025 after a long illness. At family request, at the time, this was not reported on. NARPO respected the families wishes made at that time.
Family have been surprised at the number of contacts made by Geordie’s friends and former colleagues so have decided to notify members of his funeral arrangements should friends or colleagues wish to attend and pay their respects.
A burial service will take place at St Giles Church, Main Street, Costock, Nottingham at 11am Friday 21st March 2025. (Please be aware that parking around the church is quite restricted so whilst you will be able to park in the Village you may have to walk a short distance.)
Following burial there will be a Celebration of his Life at the Ruddington Arms Public House, Wilford Road, Ruddington NG11 6EQ to which friends and colleagues are also invited.
Family wish is for no flowers but you may make a donation to Cancer Research at the church service via the undertakers.
Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family at this very sad time.

I worked with Gordon in 1969 onwards on Central CID. Then from 1976 on Nottingham North CID. In 1979 we were both members of the Regional Crime Squad. From 1987 we worked together on the Force until 1990. I remember him being responsible for solving an acid attack by a jealous woman, an armed payroll attack in Daybrook and arresting a London team involved in valuable burglary offences on the south coast of England. He also worked with me on an armed securicor payroll attack in Willenhall. There many other occasions when he made valuable contributions in the detection of serious crime. He was the officer with original ideas in crime detection and was the first name on the team sheet when forming a squad. Gordon, I always valued your professional ability and friendship. Thank you for your service. R.I.P. John Hopley
