  1. I first worked with Nigel when we were both Sergeants at Kirkby in Ashfield in 1975 where I was inadvertently instrumental in him and his wife Pam getting together. Subsequently he was my boss at Oxclose Lane in 1991-1995. He was a genuinely nice man who would always do the right thing. He cared deeply for his staff and was rightly proud to be the Divisional Commander.

We remained friends after our retirements and would often have a pint or two and attend Rotary functions together.

It was sad to see his decline in recent years,

  3. What very sad news. I had the pleasure of working with Nigel at Arnold Division as his CI Ops between 96 and his retirement in 1998. A truly wonderful man, hugely experienced and an excellent Divisional Commander. A very dapper dresser! Nigel and Pam were such lovely company. My sincere condolences to the family. RIP Nigel, we have lost one of the old school.

  5. I knew and was a friend of Nigel’s throughout my service both professionally, socially and as fellow rugby players in our early days. .Sandra and I became good friends with Nigel and Pam and shared many happy times. Not really police duty but I was able to take advantage of his skill with a chain saw when he took several trees down for me. I have too many memories to share here but I can say that he was a good policeman, a trustworthy colleague and a good friend for many years. Sandra and I send our condolences to Robert and Louisa and all his family.

  7. I new Nigel for the majority of my service and it was always a pleasure to be in his company. It was so saddening to hear of Nigels poor health in his latter years. He was a gentleman very kind and possessed a lovely sense of humour.

  8. What a great pity poor Nigel was so ill in his latter years. We first met as Inspectors at Carlton 1975. Therafter our paths crossed regularly as were both promoted to superintendent at roughly the same time. Very thorough in all that he did, everything by the book, but in a nice affable manner and a smile. Socially always good for a laugh. Salt of the earth . My commiserations to his loved ones.

  9. I had the pleasure of working for Nigel from 1995 – 1998 as his DI at Arnold. He was lovely man who caring and supportive those working for him and was well respected by all. Arnold Division was a difficult Division to work on when he was the Divisional Commander due to its high crime rate and some of the most dangerous criminals in the county living on the area. Throughout all this Nigel carried out his role with utmost care,

honesty and integrity to provide a good service to the public.

I am not able to attend his funeral but thoughts are with his son, daughter and family
