Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – David Palmer

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector David John PALMER 77yrs who sadly passed away in the City Hospital, Nottingham on the 7th December 2024 following a short illness.

David joined the Nottingham City Police in October 1967 and retired in May 1998 in the rank of Inspector. He worked at Central Police Station and subsequently Traffic at the old Nottingham Traffic Wing. He also worked as a Student Instructor at Pannal Ash for two years and at the time of his retirement he was at Community and Race Relations at FHQ.

He leaves his wife Barbara, daughter Susan, sons Ian and Keith and 9 Grandchildren.

A Cremation Service will take place at 3pm Friday 24th January 2025 at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane, Lambley, Nottingham NG4 4QH. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

The undertakers are Graham WARD Funeral Services of Hucknall, Nottingham.

Donations to the benefit of the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research can be made at the service on the day or via WARD’s Funeral Services.

Our thoughts are extended to the family at this very sad time.

  1. Very sorry to hear that Dave has passed on. Our paths never crossed at division or HQ but when you met him there was always a cheery hello. Quiet and very conscientious he garnered a first class reputation in whatever role he undertook. He especially received real respect for his last job in Community Affairs that was at a time of great challenge for the Service. RIP Dave and my sincere condolences to your family.
