Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Peter Brooks

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector Peter BROOKS 84yrs who sadly passed away at his Arnold home on the 23rd November 2024. Peter or Brooky as he was often known was a widower, his wife Dorothy having passed away during the Covid Pandemic in 2019.

After leaving school Peter did his National Service visiting both Beirut and Iran. After his National Service he was employed by Rolls Royce of Derby and Raleigh Industries in Nottingham. He joined the Nottingham City Police in October 1965 and retired in the Rank of Inspector in October 1995. During his Police career he served at Central, Canning Circus, Mansfield, Kirkby in Ashfield and the Special Operations Unit.

He leaves children Caroline, Diane and Peter and grandchildren James, Charlotte, Arron, Amy and Amanda.

A Cremation Service will take place at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane, Lambley, Nottingham on Thursday 19th December 2024 at 4pm. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at The Lambley Public House, Lambley Village from 5pm the same day.

The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family at this very sad time.

  1. Worked with Peter on the Vice Squad in the 70s and our paths crossed many times over the years. Regularly bumped into him in Arnold after retirement. A true gent who will be sadly missed. Condolences to family and friends. Unable to make funeral due to hospital stay.

  5. Very sorry to hear that Pete had passed away. Always very popular and likeable. Always talked football when we met. Played the game well into his senior years demonstrating his fitness and passion. RIP Pete and with sincere condolences to your family.
