It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer Maurice HERRING 85yrs who sadly passed away yesterday the 18th November 2024 at his Sutton in Ashfield home after a long illness.
Maurice joined the Police Service in May 1967 and retired in the rank of Acting Chief Inspector in January 1994. He served in many place including Sutton in Ashfield, Mansfield, Worksop, Newark, Kirkby in Ashfield, West Bridgford and the Special Operations Unit. Maurice also served two periods at the District Police Training Schools at Pannal Ash and Dishforth.
He leaves his wife Brenda Mary, two children, Matthew and Alison and 4 grandchildren, Annie, Toby, Emma and James.

Acting Chief Inspector Maurice HERRING sadly passed away on the 18th November 2024 at his Sutton in Ashfield home after a long illness.
His funeral arrangements are as follows:-
A Cremation Service will take place at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield NG18 5BJ, at 12 midday on Friday 13th December 2024. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at The Forest Tavern, Forest Road, Skegby NG17 3BB. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they so wish.
The Undertakers are A. WASS Funeral Services who will take donations at the Service for the benefit of The Royal British Legion.

I really enjoyed working with Maurice he always had a story to tell, dah de dah de dah.
Such Happy Days, he will be missed very much.
My sincere condolences to Brenda and family.
