The family would like to thanks all of you for your kind words and tell you a bit about what Dad got up to after he retired…

Mr George Barry Teather sadly passed away on the 16th February 2021. He was a loving Husband, Father and Grandpa and very proud of his family. Barry, as he liked to be known, will be fondly remembered by many for his mischievous nature. Since his passing many tales have come to light, it seems everyone that knew him has a story to share. Barry had a full, happy and interesting life after his career in the Police Force. There were long haul holidays, part time roles and time spent watching his grandchildren grow and blossom into the adults we see today. He will be greatly missed by all.

Many thanks Natalie

  1. We worked together as uniform Inspectors at Central in the late 70s and early 80s. It was always a pleasure to work together before he left to manage the new Control Room project. The success of that project was a true reflection of his knowledge and capabilities. Top man and a gentleman.

  7. After a number of years in the CID I went to Beeston Police Station with very little knowledge of uniform matters. Barry was the Chief Inspector there and from day one he was superb. Pleasant, very helpful, jovial and thoroughly professional. A lovely disposition, nothing too much trouble and he made my transition so very easy. Many, many thanks, RIP.
My sincere condolences to the family

  8. Though it our paths crossed several times when City CID officers I didn’t actually work with Barry until I began working as an Inspector at Beeston following the miners strike. He was Ch/ Insp.
Lovely man to work with, relaxed friendly manner always ready to help and advise.
He will be sadly missed. I send my sympathies to all his family.
