Notification of the death of a retired Police Officer Michael Leslie Kirk
It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Michael Leslie Kirk, aged 76 years, a retired Police Officer. Michael died on Monday 30 March 2020. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
Michael joined the Derbyshire Police and served at Ilkeston. He then transferred to Nottinghamshire Police and served at Worksop and Ollerton. He retired in 1985 on medical grounds. He later joined as a civilian with Nottinghamshire Police and served in the Control Room at Worksop.

If its the same Mick Kirk that worked in Bassetlaw, if it is how sad it is, I remeber Mick when he was the rural pc at Carlton in Lindrick. I can rememeber seeing him running everywhere, he was a very good runner. When he retired he was a civvie operator in the Control room at Worksop and I was his pc partner. He spoke his mind and very high morals which I appreciated .God bless Mick and rest in peace.

I joined Notts Police in 1978 when Mick was at Carlton-in-lindrick as the beat officer
Lovely guy, great runner and well respected. Didn’t know him that long but had great respect for him.

Rest In Peace Mick. Had the pleasure of knowing and working alongside Mick when I joined the shift at Worksop. He was the civilian controller at that time and the advice , knowledge and help was most welcome and gratefully received. My condolences to the family.

This is so sad. I worked with Mick at Newark Police Station (control room) where we became good friends and were still in touch via Christmas/birthday cards. We had some great laughs – thank you Mick. Rest in peace my friend.

Mick Kirk, our civvy control room operator at Worksop and Newark and what a lovely, straight up and down gentleman. A great sense of humour and a real people person. He always, dealt with everyone in courteous manner and with the utmost respect. You will be sadly missed, RIP.

It was a pleasure working with Mick during his time in the control room at Newark in the early nineties. He was valued by all the teams for his knowledge and friendship. A genuine team player. Sad to hear this news. RIP Mick.

I worked with Mick in Worksop control room for many years until we were moved to Mansfield in 2000 . A gentleman and a scholar , and many amusing stories shared with his partner in crime PC McDonald .

A truly good bloke in every sense of the word. A good colleague I worked with him both at Worksop and Newark. Always smiling, terrific sense of humour , would always find a humorous answer to any problem.After retirement we still kept in touch and my heart goes out to his family at this sad time.

I remember Mick when he was the Boughton bobby at the Main Road Police House. I was privileged to be one of those that worked with him. A true gent. Previous comments have already mentioned his wonderful smile and sense of humour I can never recall seeing him any other way. Sad, sad loss.
