NARPO ANNUAL DINNER

NARPO Annual dinner is to take place on Friday 8th December 2017 at Ramsdale Park Golf Club, the cost of tickets will be a previously set at £17.50p per head.

Those members who have attended previously have commented that they had an enjoyable night.

However a number have requested that we move from an evening event to an afternoon event. I am trying to gauge opinion to see if the members are in favour of this before making final arrangements.

Full details will be circulated to all members in the quarterly newsletter in early September after NARPO Conference, as not all members are on email.

If you have any comments please let me know

  1. Hi John

I would be most disappointed if this became a lunch. As such it would mean that most of the day would be committed to it whereas an evening event is something a bit more special. It is normal to invite the Chief and I suspect he would be more likely to be available for an evening event. When something works well, and this does, why do some people feel the need to stick their oar in and change it? I know that some older members leave early but whether they leave at 9pm or 10pm it is just as dark outside. Regards Tony

  2. John, from what you are saying, this is a proposal to change from a ‘dinner’ event to a ‘lunch’ event. In our circumstances, we would not be able to attend a ‘afternoon’ event.

  3. Hi John. I am saddened to hear that some members would prefer a lunchtime Xmas dinner. Personally I prefer the existing evening arrangement as it makes a nice evening out. Tony and I are planning to attend again this year but may not if it is held at lunchtime. Regards. Anne Berrington

  4. Christine and I feel that an evening Christmas ‘Do’ fits more into the spirit of the occasion.Newer members (and some older ones for that matter) are not fully retired and a day ‘Do’ may be difficult or impossible to attend. Santa comes down the chimney after dark when all are abed !!! – fat chance of this happening during the afternoon!!
An afternoon get together as per the City Reunion is great but not the Christmas NARPO ‘bash – please.
Put us down for two evening tickets please John.

  5. I agree with Tony ‘s comment if event became a lunch it would lose “something”. I have only recently retired and this year’s event would be my first but I doubt if would bother to attend an afternoon tea as it’s not very christmasy.

  6. I prefer the evening for this event. It is more in keeping with Christmas even to a nonagenarian like myself. Pete King.
