Geoffrey Gordon Everitt

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Geoffrey Gordon Everitt, aged 92 years, a retired Police Officer.   Geoff died on the 21 January 2020.

We have just received the notification from the Executor of his will.

Geoff joined the Police in 1948 and retired in 1974 as a Superintendent.   We have no further details at this moment. He was resident in Canada and his wife Alice, died in 2004.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Barbara Hallam, aged 86 years, the widow of a retired Police Officer.   She died on Tuesday 28 July 2020.    Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Barbara joined the County Police in 1955 and was PW 4. She retired in 1964.   In 1977 she re-joined the Force as a civilian and worked in the Control room at Epperstone..

She was the widow of Gordon Hallam who joined the County Police in 1952 and retired in 1972 following a stroke.   He died in 1991.

Funeral is on Monday 10th August at 10:15 am.
Due to the limited numbers inside the chapel, due to Covid-19 restrictions.  Neil Hallam has arranged for the ceremony to be broadcast live as a Webcast. The log on details are below.

Book of Condolence – Ronald John Wimbleton

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Ronald John Wimbleton, aged 77 years, a retired Police Officer.   He died on Wednesday 29 July 2020.   Our thoughts are with the Glenda and the family at this difficult time.

John joined the County Force as a Police Cadet at Newark. He then in 1961 he became a Constable and was stationed at Warsop. He then served at Newark, Mansfield, Sutton in Ashfield. In 1989 he became the Firearms Licensing Officer until he retired in 1992. He then returned to the Force as a civilian as a Firearms Licensing and Explosive Officer finally retiring completely in 2007.

Funeral details for John Wimbleton

There is a family Church Service at 10.15am on Thursday 13 August 2020 followed by cremation at Mansfield Crematorium at 11. 15am.     There will be a Guard of Honour outside the Masonic Hall on Nottingham Road, Mansfield about 11.00am as the cortege makes at way from the Church to the Crematorium and you are welcome to join in.      The family have asked if some his colleagues could form another Guard of Honour at the Crematorium.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Rosalie Yvonne Davies, aged 86 years, the widow of a retired Police Officer.     Yvonne died on Friday 24th July 2020.   Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Yvonne was the widow of Graham Davies.  She was a widow member of NARPO and as such enjoyed attending the Ladies Day.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of John Anthony Ward, aged 78 years, a retired Police Officer who died suddenly on Thursday 23 July 2020 in Thailand where he has lived you a number of years.  Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.  He will be cremated in Thailand in accordance with his wishes.

John joined the County Police and served at Retford and on Traffic at Retford.   He was a member of the Force Underwater Search Team and involved in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.  His numbers were 405 and then after amalgamation 1205.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Michael David Senior, aged 79 years, a retired Police Officer, who died on Sunday 19 July 2020.  Our thoughts are with his wife Janet and family at this difficult time.

Michael joined the County Force in 1970 and served at Mansfield, Forest Town and Mansfield Woodhouse.   He retired in 1991 and became a civilian member of the Force working at Police Headquarters and a number of stations.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be made and they will be added t a later Time.

Book of Condolence – Spouse of a Member Winifred Dorothy Wagstaff

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Winifred Dorothy Wagstaff, aged 90 years, the Spouse of a retired Police Officer.

Winifred was the wife of Kenneth Wagstaff who joined the City Police in 1954.   He served mainly at Central Division and one of his duties was as the Force Cycles Officer.   He retired in 1984. Our thoughts are with Kenneth at this difficult time.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Janet Griffiths, aged 58 years, the wife of a retired Police Officer.   Janet died on Thursday 9th July 2020 after battling with Multiple Sclerosis for the last 25 years.      Our thoughts are with John at this difficult time.

Janet was married to John Griffiths who retired in 2013 who served at Canning Circus, Central and completed his service in the Bridewell.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Michael James Page, aged 74, a retired Police Officer who died on Saturday 11 July 2020.  Our thoughts are with his wife Maureen at this difficult time.

The funeral will be at 3.15pm Friday 24 July 2020 at Mansfield Crematorium.  Due to the limited number that can attend you will be able to follow the service on www.obitus.com.  You will be asked to sign in and the username is gowi2476 and the password is 532293.

The Masons are forming a guard of honour on Nottingham Road Mansfield at 3.00pm. outside of their Hall.  You are welcome to join in but no one will be able to enter their grounds.  The cortege will be stopping for a sort time for you to show your respect.

Mike joined the County Police in 1965 and served at Mansfield, Hyson Green, Central and a number of other departments.   He retired in 1995.

He was awarded the British Empire Medal for his services to the Youth Justice at Hyson Green and Mansfield Attendance Centres

Notification of the death of a retired Police Officer

Peter Michael Dawson

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Peter Michael Dawson, aged 83 years, a retired Police Officer.  Peter died on Monday 6 July 2020.

Peter joined county constabulary in 1958 when demobbed from RAF and joined the County Police and was posted to Mansfield, transferred to West Bridgford in 1961 when married. Went on mechanised there. Then posted to Control Room at Epperstone and lived in Police House on Hagg Lane. After amalgamation bought house in Calverton and moved into training, went to Pannal Ash and Dishforth as instructor, then later a trainer for Cadets and Firearms. Promoted Sgt to Bestwood Park and Hucknall on the old North Division. Finished on Crime Prevention and retired in 1985.

The funeral is at 11.00am Monday 27 July 2020 at Mansfield Crematorium.   There is only 15 people allowed at the service and this will be family and friends by invitation.   If you wish to form a guard of honour this can be done at the Crematorium gates as you will not be allowed in the grounds.

Donations are for the Friends of Cornwater Evergreens, a club of dementia friends at Ravenshead.
