Hi, My name is Malcolm Rodney Grocock, I am in the process of tracing my mums family tree and have come across her sisters last husband who,s name was John D Conway. I have enquired at the HR depts. of the Nottinghamshire Constabulary who put me in touch with Nottingham City police and they have recommended contact you.
Now I did know him briefly as my uncle John, he was an elderly gentleman in a wheelchair having had a stroke, and he used to tell me about his life as a mounted police officer when he was based in Wollaton Park, Nottingham, at the time they lived in the old farm in Wollaton Park who.s grounds are now called MR Mans Resaurant, and when I visited my aunt and uncle as an eleven year old in 1962 I used to walk up to the stables and see the horses and speak to the men looking after them.
I am trying to trace info on my uncle John because information has come to light from my elder brothers who knew him longer than I did that is interesting, ie, he had been a police officer in India, before returning back to the UK.
Anyway I wont bore you with the rest other than to say any information you can supply will be greatly appreciated.
Regards with anticipation, M R Grocock.
Anyone with information should contact Mr Grocock directly on email at mrod50@hotmail.com
