Ladies Day

Ladies Day is scheduled for 1pm Saturday 1st June 2024 at the Stadium Leisure Centre, Nottingham Road, Basford, the will be a Meal provided, of the salad variety.

A number of members have indicated that they wish to attend and they will be contacted within the next few days, if you require transport please let me know as soon as possible so that it can be arranged.

If any member can assist on the day with transport and have not already indicated please let me know by putting a comment at the bottom of this page and I will contact you, those that have already indicated that they can provide transport will be contacted within the next few days

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – John Moor Burton Gough

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer John Moore Burton GOUGH 86yrs (Retired Pc715) who sadly passed away on the 4th May 2024 after a long illness. John joined the Police Service in October 1966 and retired in October 1992. He spent his initial service on the old South Division before moving to CID at Hyson Green, The Regional Crime Squad and subsequently Hucknall from where he retired.

He leaves his wife Patricia and children Lorna, Russell and Ian.

At this time there are no funeral arrangements but these will be posted in due course.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – David John Kirk

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer David John KIRK 73yrs (Retired Police Constable 1874) who sadly passed away after a relatively short illness on the 4th May 2024.

Dave joined  the Nottinghamshire Police on the 21st June 1976 and retired on the 13th March 2006. Dave spent most of his service as a Traffic Officer working from the Nottingham Traffic Wing until its closure.

He leaves his wife Ann and children Heidi, Adam and Chloe.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Harold Eric Kitchen

A number of you will already be aware of the sad death of Retired Police Officer (Pc1287) Harold Eric KITCHEN. Eric sadly passed away after a long illness on the 21st April 2024  aged 87 years. He leaves his wife Rosemary, daughter Melanie and son Tim.

Eric joined the Police Service in August 1958 and retired in August 1988. It is my understanding that he was one of the original Retford traffic officers and prior to his retirement was the office man at Ollerton Traffic Wing.

Should any of his friends or former colleagues with to pay their respects there will be a Funeral Service on Thursday 9th May 2024 at 11am at All Hallows Church, Ordsall, Retford, Nottinghamshire DN22 7TP. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues should they wish to attend.

Book of Condolence – Police Widow – Betty Machin

It is with sadness that I report the death of Police Widow Betty MACHIN 81yrs who sadly passed away on the 13th March 2024 after a long illness. Betty was the widow of retired Police Sergeant Anthony Clive MACHIN who sadly passed away in 1995 shortly after his retirement. He had served at Edwalton, East Leake , Mansfield, Sutton in Ashfield and latterly at Ollerton up to his retirement in the early 1990’s.

Betty leaves her daughter Jane and sons, Anthony and Stephen.

Book of Condolence = Retired Officer – Mark Winter

Many of you will already be aware but it is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Constable 436 Mark Lewis WINTER 62yrs who sadly passed away after a long illness at his Calverton home on the 15th March 2024.

Mark joined the Police Service in 1980 and retired in 2010 in the rank of Constable. He served at Retford, Central and Canning Circus.

Mark leaves his wife Sonya and five children, James, Stephanie, Sophie, Charlotte and Gareth.

At this time no funeral arrangements have been made but these will be posted in due course.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer and Widow – Vivien Booth

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer Vivien Ann BOOTH 87yrs who sadly passed away on the 13th February 2024 at her Derby home. Vivien was also a Police Widow, her late husband Eon BOOTH Pc525 (Formerly 1325) sadly passed away in 2014.

Vivien Completed 10 years Police Service between 1956 and 1966. She served four years in uniform at Newark and a further 6 years in CID at Mansfield. Her late husband Eon also served at both Newark and Mansfield.

Vivien leaves daughters Stephanie and Nicola.

Her funeral will take place at Chellaston on the 12th March 2024. This is for family and close friends only.

The undertakers are George SIMNETT Funeral Services of Chellaston, Derbys.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – George Harper

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector George Frank HARPER who sadly passed away at his Bedford home on the 21st February 2024 only 5 days short of his 101st birthday. George was a widower, his wife Ivy having passed away in 2012.

An amazing piece of history in George’s past life was that he was conscripted into the Army to serve in the Second World War. After the war was over George joined the Police Service until his retirement in 1981. George served on the old Mechanised Division before amalgamation and subsequently at Nottingham Traffic Wing thereafter. Later in service he also served at Carlton and Newark until retirement.

He leaves his daughter Jane and Grandson Jonathan.

There will be a Cremation Service for George to be held at Bedford Crematorium at 2.30pm Thursday 21st March 2024. The family would welcome anyone to attend who would wish to pay their respects but fully appreciate the distance to travel, the weather and time of year, and because of his age they appreciate that not many of his former colleagues will still be around.

The undertakers are Neville’s Funeral Services of Bedford.
