Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – David Richard Ecob

David Richard ECOB (Retired Detective Constable 257) sadly passed away on the 7th July 2024. He was 79yrs.

Dave joined the Police Service in February 1967 and retired in May 1988. He served mainly on the old South Division working from West Bridgford, Clifton, Station Street and the Meadows. Dave was a keen sportsman and an excellent footballer. He played for the Meadows Sub Division, the City Police, the Nottinghamshire Combined Police and was even selected and played for the Great British Police side playing in a Police tournament in Finland. I am given to understand that whilst he was a fair player he was “as hard as nails” on the pitch.

Dave leaves his wife Janet and adult children, sons Gary and Paul and daughter Wendy.

A Cremation Service will take place at Wilford Hill Crematorium, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham at 11am Thursday 8th August 2024. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at the nearby Nottingham Knight Hotel. Family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

The undertakers are A.W.LYMN of West Bridgford, Nottingham

Family have asked should any persons wish to make donations they can do so on the day via the undertakers to the benefit of Prostate Cancer UK.

Dave’s son Gary has asked that members and his footballing colleagues who may have funny stories or anecdotes about things he may have done or been involved in, can you please send details of them to him (not NARPO) prior to the event by email to:- gecob@clairfield.com

Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family at this very sad time.
