Widows and Widowers Pensions

Below is a copy of an email I received today

Dear Branch Secretary,

With reference to the below message from NARPO HQ, there is a meeting of the Joint Police Pension Board administered by Kier next Friday and I will be raising this issue amongst others.

I will send you an update after the meeting as I plan to ask Kier to proactively check that they do have details of officers who opted in for every scheme they administer and devise a simple process for those who think they might be affected to be reassured.  In the interim it might be helpful if people could wait for that update rather than overload Kier with ‘phone calls now. However, for clarity this issue only affects Male Officers who were serving in 1972 and Female Officers who were serving in 1990 who opted in. Retirees cannot do anything retrospectively.

I hope this assists.
