Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Nigel Colin McCrery

This former officer is not a member of NARPO but I have been asked to inform members of the death of Nigel Colin McCRERY Ex Police Constable245.

Nigel served with the Nottinghamshire Police between October 1978 and retired medically in 1986. He had sustained injuries in the Hyson Green Flats disorder and did not recover from his injuries. He died on the 6th February 2025 in the Queens Medical Centre after a very short illness.

Following his Police Service Nigel had a very successful writing career. He was the creator of the television series Silent Witness and the New Tricks Drama. He was the author of some 30 books having attended Trinity College, Cambridge as a mature student despite having dyslexia.

Retired Police Sergeant Dick PARKIN has provided this information although similar information does appear on Social Media. Dick was a close friend of Nigel and he has provided his own mobile telephone number should former officers wish to get in touch with regards to Nigel. The number is 07906924440. Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – John Williams

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Detective Sergeant 85 John Forester WILLIAMS 87yrs who sadly passed away on the 30th January 2025 at his Mapperley home following a heart related illness.

John actually joined the Cheshire Police originally, but in October 1956, following a family move to Nottinghamshire he joined the Nottingham City Police working from Central Police Station. Throughout his service he remained in the City but did spend a considerable period on the No.3 Regional Crime Squad. He ended his service back at Central in the Rank of Detective Sergeant.

John was a keen sportsman and would take on many sports including football, but his great love was Rugby Union at which he was a formidable player, playing for the Force on numerous occasions.

He leaves his wife Shirley, son Mark, daughters Lesley and Jo, and two grandchildren.

The funeral is at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane, Lambley at 3pm this Friday afternoon 28th February 2025 at 3pm. There will be a Celebration of his Life afterwards at Mapperley Golf Club, Central Avenue, Mapperley. 

John’s son Mark has asked that people attending do not dress sombrely and if possible can you please wear a daffodil. Anyone wishing to speak at the Celebration of Life will be welcome to do so especially if you have funny stories of John.

Mark is still looking for a bearer for his Dad’s coffin if someone is willing to assist but you need to be 5’11 to 6′ tall.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Terry Meade

It is with sadness that I report the sad death of Retired Police Constable 814 Terry MEADE (69yrs) who sadly passed away in the Nottingham City Hospital on the 20th January 2025 after a very short illness.

Terry joined the Nottinghamshire Police in April 1975 and retired in the rank of Constable in April 2005.Terry spent the most of his service at either Beeston or Hyson Green, but did have short periods at other locations.

He leaves his wife Marisol, daughter Hayley, son Anthony, and three grandchildren.

His funeral arrangements are as follows:

There will be a Cremation Service at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, Bramcote, Nottingham at 1pm Friday 28th February 2025. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend should they wish to pay their respects.

The Undertakers are The Cooperative Funeral Services of Stapleford, Nottingham. Daughter Hayley jokingly states this is near to the Wetherspoons Pub at which Terry spent most of his time.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer -Ramon Frank Green

Ramon Frank GREEN (Ray) sadly passed away on the 4th January 2025. He was 96yrs of age.

His funeral arrangements are as follows:-

A Cremation Service will take place at 12noon Monday 10th February 2025 at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield, Nottingham NG18 5BJ. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life with light refreshments at 281 Hotel, Nottingham Road, Mansfield Nottingham NG18 4SE. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues who knew or worked with Ray to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

Book of Condolence – Spouse of a Retired Officer Jane Frances Allen

Jane Frances ALLEN 78yrs was the wife of Retired Police Sergeant 340 John ALLEN. Sadly Jane passed away after a long illness on the 14th January 2025 at the Nursing Home at which she had spent some time suffering from Alzheimers.

John joined the Nottinghamshire Police in March 12969 and retired in April 1998 in the rank of Sergeant.

A Cremation Service for Jane will take place at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane, Lambley, Nottingham NG14 4QH at 10am Wednesday 5th February 2025..

The undertakers are Baguley Brothers of  Mansfield Road, Sherwood, Nottingham.

It is with sadness that I report the death of Nigel Ralph SPENCER 84yrs a Retired Police Superintendent who sadly passed away in a Sutton in Ashfield Care Home on the 18th January 2025 He was a widower. his wife, Pamela having passed away herself several years ago.

Nigel joined the Police Service in July 1963 and retired in the Rank of Superintendent in March 1998.

There will be a Cremation Service at 10am Friday 14th February 2025 at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield, Nottingham. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend to pay their respects should they wish to do so.

It is with sadness that I report the death of Lynn Joyce JACKS 72yrs who sadly passed away on the 27th October 2024 after a long illness at her Mansfield home. Lynn had been wheelchair bound for over 8 years and became susceptible to other health issues.

Lynn was the spouse of Retired Police Officer Lewis (Lew) JACKS formerly of the Nottinghamshire Police and who spent considerable service within Special Branch.

Due to the late notification the funeral had already passed and the Undertakers were the Cooperative Funeral Services at Mansfield.

Lynn leaves her husband Lew. son Andrew, Daughter Caroline and 5 Grandchildren.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Norman Fox

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector Norman Arthur FOX aged 94yrs who sadly passed away at his Arnold home on the 1st January 2025.

Norman joined the Police Service (County Police) in August 1955 and retired in March 1989. He joined the Service working at Hucknall Police Station and subsequently became the Village ‘Bobby’ at Gotham. He also worked at Arnold and later in Service became the Inspector in Charge of the Guildhall Cell Block from where he subsequently retired.

Norman had been a widower for over 27 years, his dear wife Muriel having passed away all that time ago.

He leaves his Son Stephen and Daughter Jane and four Grandchildren, Robert, Richard, Jason and Adam.

His funeral arrangements are as follows:

A Cremation Service will take place at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, Bramcote, Nottingfham at 11.30am Tuesday 28th January 2025. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at The British Legion Club, Bramcote Lane, Wollaton, Nottingham  NG8 2ND.

The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do do,
