It is with great sadness that I report the sudden and unexpected death of Retired Police Superintendent Michael BROOKES (Mick) aged 69yrs. Mick was walking in Derbyshire yesterday 27/2/2025 with a friend and former colleague, I understand they may have been in the area of Carsington Water when Mick collapsed. It appears he may have suffered a heart attack from which he was unable to recover. He was subsequently taken to a hospital in Chesterfield but sadly nothing could be done for him.
Mick joined the Nottinghamshire Police in February 1981 but had previously served in the Hong Kong Police as a direct entrant at the Rank of Inspector. He retired in Notts in August 2008 in the Rank of Superintendent. He spent a considerable period of his service at Canning Circus.
