Book of Condolence – Police Widow – Pamela Baker

It is with sadness that I report the death of Police Widow Pamela Jean BAKER was was 93yrs and who passed away in a Tunbridge Wells Care Home on the 20th May 2025.

She was the wife of Retired Police Constable Geoffrey Haydn BAKER who served with the Police between 1953 and 1977. Sadly we have no further information relating to this officer nor the date of his death. We do not have details of any next of kin.

Due to the passage of time sadly her funeral has already taken place. It is unlikely I will receive any further information regarding this death.

May she Rest in Eternal Peace.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Trevor William Crown

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer Trevor William CROWN aged 82years who sadly passed away in a Northampton hospital on the 19th June 2025 after a long illness.

Trevor lived with his wife Joyce in their Northampton home. He leaves Joyce and two adult children, son Andrew and daughter Rachel.

Trevor joined the Nottingham City Police in May 1962 and retired in August 1992. He spent considerable time within Central Division. He had his office at Central where you would always be made welcome and using the words of Gordon DONALDSON “he was always on your side when a baddie needed remanding”. He was a true gentleman.

His funeral will take place at Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane, Lambley, Nottingham at 11am Thursday 17th July 2025. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at Woodborough Hall, Bank Hill, Woodborough, Nottingham.

The undertakers are C. TERRY Funeral Services of Bulwell, Nottingham

Joyce and family would welcome friends and former colleagues, and their respective partners to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.. However, Joyce would be grateful if those attending would let her know they are attending by email for catering purposes.

Joyce as further asked that should anyone with to make a charitable donation in lieu of flowers that both she and Trevor were supporters of UNICEF.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – David John Porter

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Inspector David John PORTER 82yrs who sadly passed away this morning 21/6/2025 at his Mansfield home having suffered with Motor Nuerone Disease

David joined the Nottingham Police as a Cadet aged 15yrs and then became a Constable (Pc497) in December 1961 where he was posted to Retford. He has served at Retford, Mansfield, Mansfield Woodhouse, Newark on CID Special Branch and FHQ. He was promoted to Sergeant at Mansfield and to Inspector at Hucknall where he served until his retirement in April 1997. Having left the Police Service he went to work at West Notts College where he worked with teenagers suffering with Autism. He retired finally at the age of 65.

He leaves his wife Julia and daughters Emma and Anna.

His funeral arrangements are as follows:-

A Memorial Service will take place at 1pm Wednesday 23rd July 2025 at Mansfield Baptist Church, Rosemary Street, Mansfield NG19 6AB. This will be followed by refreshments at the same venue. Thereafter a Cremation Service will take place at 4pm the same day at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend should they wish to pay their respects. Book of Condolence – Police Widow – Noreen McCulloch

It is with sadness that I report the death of Police Widow Noreen McCULLOCH who was 106 years of age who passed away today 24th June 2025 in a York Care Home following a short illness.

Eileen was the wife of the late Detective Chief Superintendent Thomas McCULLOCH who sadly passed away in 1994. He joined the Police Service in 1938 and retired in the rank of Detective Chief Superintendent in 1970.

Sadly due to the passage of time there is no record of Thomas McCULLOCH on NARPO.

Noreen leaves her son John McCULLOCH who is a York resident.

There are no funeral arrangements known at this time but these will be posted when they are known.

Book of Condolence – Retired Police Officer -Alan James Walker

Whilst not a member of NARPO it is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Officer Alan James WALKER Ps1508 who sadly passed away this morning 6/5/2025 at his Mevagissey, Cornwall home after a long illness. He was 57yrs of age. 

Alan joined the Nottinghamshire Police in December 1987 and retired in December 2017. He served at Central, Beeston OSD(Dogs) and The Bridewell prior to his retirement. 

He leaves his wife Gaynor WALKER (Former Notts Policewoman Gaynor BEARDSLEY Pc2113), son Thomas and daughter Freya. 

There will not be any funeral details posted. Alan’s wishes are that he be dealt with by way of Direct Cremation and this will be arranged on a date suitable to family and the Undertakers who are BOURTON’s Funeral Services of 37/41 Truro Road, St. Austell, Cornwall PL25 5JE.

Book of Condolence – Spouse of a Retired Officer – Sandra Jackson

It is with sadness that I report the death of Sandra JACKSON aged 84yrs who passed away on the 16th May 2025 in a Hucknall Care Home after a relatively short illness. 

Sandra was the wife of Retired Detective Chief Superintendent Bob JACKSON who retired from the Nottinghamshire Police in 1990.

Sandra leaves her husband Bob and Son Anthony. Sadly they lost a daughter Susan, when she was only 25 years of age. She also leaves Grandson Daniel. In her later years Sandra suffered with poor vision but coped very well with her disability.

There are no funeral arrangements at this time but they will be circulated to members when they are known.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Christopher Tyrrell

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Constable 396 Christopher John TYRRELL who sadly passed away on the 29th May 2025 at his Richmond home following a very short illness. He was 78 yrs of age.

Chris, as he was known joined the Nottingham City Police in April 1967 and retired in May 1993. After early uniform duties at Central he transferred to the then Mechanised Department and subsequently the Nottingham Traffic Wing TD(N) where he remained for most of his service.

Chris leave his wife Glynis (former Notts Cadet 57 WILKINSON and Policewoman 21). He leaves son, Ashley and daughters Rachel and Elizabeth. He also leaves Grandchildren Emily, Tia, Maddie and Tom.

At this time there are no known funeral arrangements but these will be posted to members when they are known.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Granville Michael Deakin

It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Constable Granville Michael DEAKIN. He was both Pc540 and 1340. He passed away on the 9th May 2025 in a Sheffield Care Home following a long illness. He had been suffering Vascular Dementia and PTSD. He was 90 years of age.

Michael as he was known joined the Police Service in April 1957 and retired on December 1979. He served at Carlton, Epperstone, Nottingham Traffic, Worksop Traffic, West Bridgford, Worksop and subsequently Retford from where he retired.

He leaves his wife Janet, also aged 90 yrs, son Andrew and Daughter Jane. He also leaves 4 Grandchildren, Georgia, Samantha, Peter and Jessica and 6 Great Grandchildren, Aria, Thomas, William, Heidi, Ralph and Max.

At this time there are no funeral arrangements made but these will be posted in due course.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Michael Morrell

Whilst NOT a member of NARPO, it is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Police Constable Michael MORRELL who sadly passed away in Haywood House Hospice on the 15th April 2025 following a very short illness. I believe his collar number was possibly 1473.

Mick as he was known  served 36 years in the Police Service finally retiring probably around 2008. During his service he was awarded the British Empire Medal for services to Policing. His family, like Mick, were very proud of such an achievement.

Mick leaves his wife Julie, daughters Clare and Catherine and son James. He also leaves three Grandchildren, Evelyn, Zoe and Cora.

A Cremation Service will take place at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane , Bramcote, Nottingham at 1pm Wednesday 4th June 2025. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.
