Comments on Book of Condolence.

First I have to apologise for the delay in getting comments on the Book of Condolence.

Regretfully my wife is in City Hospital and I am not able to devote as much time to NARPO as I would like.

If you post a comment it has to be approved if you are not registered on the website, this means that there could be a couple of days delay before it appears, you do not have to repeat the message just keep check of the following few days.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Derek John Rothery

Notification of the death of a retired Police Officer

Derek John Rothery

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Derek John Rothery, aged 86 years, a retired Police Officer who died on Thursday 17 September 2020.  Our thoughts are with his son Max at this difficult time.

The funeral is on Wednesday 7 October 2020 but due to the pandemic there is a restriction on the numbers of mourners that can attend. Donations to St Barnadas Hospice, Lincoln via the Lincoln Co-op Funeral Home, North Street, Gainsborough,  DN21 2HS

Derek joined the County Force in 1958 after serving as a Petty Officer in the Royal Navy.    He served at Calverton, Mansfield and Retford where he became a bit of a legend in his dealing with the local criminals.   He retired in 1985 and moved to live in Lincolnshire.     He wife June died in 2017

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of John Michael Okjoj, aged 71 years, a retired Police Officer.   John died on Sunday 27 September 2020.    Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

There are restrictions on numbers attending the funeral

John joined the Combined Force in 1971 and served at Central, Oxclose Lane and Hucknall.    He retired in 2001 His collar number was Pc 883.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of James Albert McGrady, aged 92 years, a retired Police Officer.   James died on 26 August 2020.

James joined the County Force in 1951 and retired as Sergeant 1135 in 1981.  Unfortunately we have not been able to contact a relative for any further details.   Should we obtain any further details they will be added to this entry

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Edmund (Eddy) Richard Humphries, aged 80 years, a retired Police Officer.   Edmund died on Tuesday 22 September 2020.

Edmund joined the Nottinghamshire Combined Force in 1971and served at Mansfield and the Force Control Room.  His collar number was 1755 and he retired in 1993.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Hilary Patricia Hall, aged 82 years, the widow of a retired Police Officer.   Hilary died on Tuesday 15 September 2020.   Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Due to the present pandemic the numbers attending the funeral are limited

Hilary was the widow of Derek Gordon Hallam who joined the County Force in 1960.   He served at Mansfield, Bingham, Kirkby in Ashfield, Retford and retired in 1991 at Sutton in Ashfield.     He died in 2016.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Alan Dare, aged 91 years, a retired Police Officer, who died on Monday 21 September 2020.  Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Due to the pandemic and there will be restrictions for those attending the funeral.

Alan, aka Dan, joined the County Force in 1951.  He served at Mansfield, Ollerton, Warsop and Newark before retiring in 1978.  His collar number was 218 and 2018.      His wife Edith died in 2011.

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Maureen Galley, aged 83 years.

 Maureen died on Thursday 3rd September 2020.  Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.  

Maureen was the widow of Maurice Galley who died in 2017.  Prior to joining the Police he was a professional footballer with Chesterfield Football Club.    He joined the County Force in 1963 and served at Arnold, Kirkby in Ashfield, Force Training School and the Force Control Room.     He continued playing football in the Police for the Division  and Force teams. He retired in 1990

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions numbers of people attending the funeral will be limited .

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Clyde Royston Moore, aged 63 years, a retired Police Officer.   He died on Wednesday 9th September 2020.   Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

Clyde joined the Nottinghamshire Police in 1982 and served at Canning Circus and Beeston. He transferred to the Firearms Department from where he retired on a medical for a injury he received on duty, in 1994.  His collar number was 1974.

Irene Stone

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Irene Stone, aged 76 years, who died on Thursday 3 September 2020.   Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

The funeral is on Wednesday 16 September 2020 and is restricted to family only.   

Irene is the spouse of Raymond Stone.   He began his Police Career at Stafford Police, then moved to the Jersey Police in the Channel Isles.   He then transferred to the Nottingham City Police in 1960 and served at Central Division both in uniform and C I D.   He retired in 1991 as an Inspector.
