Geoffrey Ernest HALLAM 89 yrs sadly passed away late evening on the 17th September 2024 following a long illness. He was surrounded by his family at the time.
Geoff or INKY as he was lovingly known was born in 1935 in Dunkirk, Nottingham and subsequently went to the Cottesmore Boys School. Following school he served an apprenticeship at Raleigh Industries and to follow his own father joined the Grenadier Guards aged 18yrs, He subsequently undertook active service in the Suez Crisis. He became a Sergeant Instructor in the Guards and left in 1957 to join the Nottingham City Police. He did his initial service in the City and very young in service joined the old Mechanised Division where he served as a Pc, Sgt, Inspector and Temporary Chief Inspector at both TD(N) and TD(O). He also worked in Traffic Planning and his greatest pride was that he was the Head of the Motorcycle Section.
He retired from the Police Service in 1987 and for a short time worked for a Solicitors company and subsequently Rushcliffe Council until his retirement in 1997.
He continued as the National Representative for the Guards Association. He was a keen sportsman and follower of Leicester Tigers Rugby Team. He was a very good swimmer and an ASA Coach.
With other Police Officers (Keith BOSWORTH and Lynne GANT ) he formed a Judo school such was his interest in Martial Arts.
He had been a widower in the region of 20yrs, his late wife Janet was a Midwife.
Towards the end of his life Geoff had discussed with his sons that he did not want a big fussy funeral as most of the people he worked with were now themselves deceased. To that end there will be no formal funeral as Geoff wished to have a Direct Cremation and his family will comply with his wishes.
Geoff leaves sons Phillip and Nigel, 3 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

It is with regret that I have to inform you of the death of Paul Charles Bryan a retired Constable (1132) that occurred on 25th September 2024, Paul joined the Combined Constabulary 20th May 1974 and retired on ill heath 16th June 1997, he served at the Meadows and was for many years a Dog Handler attached to OSD (Dogs)
Paul was married but sadly his wife passed away a number of years ago and is survived by a daughter Andrea Flintham, since 2020 Paul has been in a care home suffering from dementia. His estate is being dealt with by his sister in law Lesley Bryan.
The funeral will take place at Bramcote Crematorium at 12.30pm on 24th October 2024, family flowers only but donations via undertakers G T Edwards 126 Nottingham Road, Ilkeston DE7 5NW to Dementia Research.

It is with regret that I have to Inform you of the Death of John (Jack/Bomber) Harris that occurred on 27th September 2024
John (or Jack as he was known) joined the City Police1st July 1958 after a spell in the Horse Guards, he served in the City Police area mainly on CID and rose to the rank of Superintendent before retiring 28th February 1987, he leavers a widow Sylvia, and son and two daughters and grandchildren.
He was an active member of the RNA (Royal Naval Association) Club at Lenton and could be found in the club most Sundays playing Dominoes, he was active within the club and attended many of their Battlefield Tours.
The funeral will take place at 11am Wednesday 23rd October at St Marys Church, Arnold, NG5 8HJ followed by Cremation 12 noon Gedling Crematorium, Catfoot Lane Mapperley NG4 4QH and reception at 1pm Mapperley Golf Club.

Retired Police Sergeant John Henry JOHNSON (Sgt1056) sadly passed away in Kings Mill Hospital on the 12th July 2024 after a relatively short illness. He was 89yrs old.
John joined the Police Service in October 1957 and retired in the Rank of Sergeant in December 1984. He served at Mansfield Ollerton and Worksop and also the Traffic Wing at Ollerton.
John leaves his wife Sonia, Children Mark, Deborah and Amanda, and Grandchildren Harry, Catherine, Scott, Nathan and Naomi.
A Cremation Service for John will take place on Tuesday 13th August 2024 at 11.15am at Mansfield Crematorium, Derby Road, Mansfield, Notts NG18 5BJ. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

David Richard ECOB (Retired Detective Constable 257) sadly passed away on the 7th July 2024. He was 79yrs.
Dave joined the Police Service in February 1967 and retired in May 1988. He served mainly on the old South Division working from West Bridgford, Clifton, Station Street and the Meadows. Dave was a keen sportsman and an excellent footballer. He played for the Meadows Sub Division, the City Police, the Nottinghamshire Combined Police and was even selected and played for the Great British Police side playing in a Police tournament in Finland. I am given to understand that whilst he was a fair player he was “as hard as nails” on the pitch.
Dave leaves his wife Janet and adult children, sons Gary and Paul and daughter Wendy.
A Cremation Service will take place at Wilford Hill Crematorium, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham at 11am Thursday 8th August 2024. Thereafter there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held at the nearby Nottingham Knight Hotel. Family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend and pay their respects should they wish to do so.

I have just been informed that around 4.30pm this afternoon 8/7/2024, retired Police Officer Ian Charles LOMAS (T/Insp 338) aged 65yrs sadly passed away in hospital after a very short illness. His family were around him at the time.

It is with sadness that I report the death of Police Widow, Shirley Ann ROBINSON 86yrs who sadly passed away in the Queens Medical Centre on the 30th May 2024. Ann as she was known was the widow of Barrie D. ROBINSON (sorry no collar number) who passed away in 2009. He retired from the Police Service in the late 1970’s and was the Wollaton Officer.
There will be a Church Service on Thursday 20th June 2024 at 1.30pm at St Leonards Church Wollaton, Nottingham followed by Cremation at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, Bramcote, Nottingham. It is with sadness that I report the death of Retired Assistant Chief Constable John CULLEY 85yrs who sadly passed away on the 8th June 2024 at his Granby home after a long illness.
John joined the Police service in October 1957 and retired in the Rank of Assistant Chief Constable in September 1992. He leaves his wife Gillian Patience and two sons, Robert and John Stephen.
Retired Assistant Chief Constable John Frederick CULLEY sadly passed away on the 8th June 2024.
