Book of Condolence – Support Staff Member – Marjorie Toppine nee Bramley

Bill DUFFY has asked that I post the following for the attention of NARPO members. These are Bill’s words.

The content is as follows:-

I am looking for anyone who remembers Marjorie TOPPING late Marjorie BRAMLEY when she married Harvey (who died several years ago). Just before Christmas I went to visit her and took her a Christmas Card and some flowers. A neighbour called me over and informed me that Marjorie had fallen on a bus two weeks earlier when she was going to get her Covid jab. She did not survive the injuries caused by the fall and died very soon after. Her funeral is taking place on the afternoon of Tuesday 20th January at 3pm. If anyone has any memories of Marjorie that I can provide to the Celebrant can you please let me know by Direct Message or Whatsapp.

Neither the  neighbour nor I are aware of any relatives left by Marjorie or Harvey. (Message ends)

Marjorie was Divisional Secretary at Station Street in 1983 when Bill was promoted to Sergeant there. She was not a member of NARPO,

If anyone can help Bill with any such memories please contact Bill DUFFY by Direct Message or Whatsapp. Do not reply to NARPO or this email.

Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Peter Mee

I have received notification of the death of Retired Police Sergeant Peter MEE Ps1284 via his Son in Law (Retired Police Officer Kev TOBIN). I will use Kev’s words rather than my own.

His information is as follows:

It is with sadness that I find myself notifying you of the death of my father in law, retired Police Sergeant 1284 Peter Mee, who peacefully passed away at the Kings Mill Hospital at 3:20am on Friday 9th January 2026, aged 94 years. Peter was a NARPO member.

Peter is succeeded by his wife of 70 years Margaret (aka Betty), his daughters Janette and Elizabeth, his grandchildren Emma, Craig, Sarah and Adam and eight great grandchildren.

As a young man, Peter served in the Military Police during his National Service. On completion of his National Service Peter joined the Nottinghamshire County force in 1951 and served as a uniform officer across the County. Peter also served as a Traffic Patrol officer and motorcyclist.

Peter was also a member of the Force Underwater Search Unit.

Peter’s final posting was that of Advanced Driver Trainer at the Force’s Driving School at Epperstone Manor, retiring from there in November 1981.

Following retirement from the Force, Peter was employed as a chauffeur at Calverton’s Wrangler factory, and subsequently worked as a Stable Guard for the Jockey Club.

Peter was also a keen Bowls player and was the President of Nottinghamshire Bowls Association for a period of time.

Sadly, in his later years Peter suffered from Alzheimer’s and for the past few months was in residential care at the Berry Hill care home. It was from there that Peter was admitted to the KMH on Sunday 4th January 2026, where Peter’s daughters Jan and Liz remained with him until he passed.

There are no funeral arrangements, at this stage it is anticipated the family will have a non-attendance cremation.

I will notify you should there be any changes to that.

Kind regards,

Kevin Tobin.

Our thoughts are extended to the family at this very sad time.
