Knew Alistair since he joined, as we lived on the same road in Keyworth. Lost touch as so often happens when you re locate. Remember him as a really nice guy. It was a shock to hear this news.
My condolences to Mary and the rest of the family. RIP Alistair.

I first met Alastair on 7th October 1974 when we joined up and spent our first week at Epperstone and then the next 10 weeks at Pannal Ash. I was posted to Clifton and Al was posted to West Bridgford, so we met up quite often on shifts and at probation training sessions. We bumped into each other throughout our service and it was always nice to catch up. It all seems a long while ago but in some respects like yesterday in others. A very sad loss. My condolences to Mary and the rest of the family. 1697 to 1652, RIP Alistair.

Worked with Alistair together with Johnny North in the mid 70’s at Keyworth Whilst we were all stationed on the Rushcliffe Rural Mobile Section.
Alastair always presented himself as a professional no nonsense bobby and true gentleman.
He always greeted you with a smile and had a lovely sense of humour.
In conversations with him it was clear that his wife and family were dear and uppermost in his thoughts and its to Mary his children and grandchildren that I extend my condolences and commiserations.
It was a pleasure knowing you Al. RIP.

I met Alastair when he joined my karate club in Keyworth around 1986. He became a valued member by achieving black belt grade. We met occasionally for a pint or two to chat about most things, including motorcycles, land rovers and one time the conversation turned to WW2. After a while we both found out that our fathers both embarked on the same ship (SS BOISSEVAIN) from Glasgow on 25 December 1942, bound for N Africa. What a coincidence!
