  1. I knew Peter before I joined the police as he was at 2nd Arnold scouts. He was an amazing role model to young people and I certainly benefited from meeting him. Not only at the scouts but also in the band at 2nd Arnold we had great times. I didn’t work with Peter when I joined but can say that the guidance in the scouts helped me when I joined the force. A really good man with a wicked sense of humour.thanks for the guidance. Eric lovatt

  2. Played second row with Pete at Police rugby. He was a strong honest man who maintained the highest of standards. Our paths crossed during our careers and afterwards often bumped into him around Arnold. Condolences to all family and friends.

  3. I played rugby with Pete for a number of years and was always pleased to see him on the fixture list. He was a credit to the team and the Force. Best wishes to his family from Bridlington where I’m now retired. Bob Edwards Retired Superintendent.

  4. Pete was my second Sargent at central and I was subsequently on the  miners dispute in his van.

He was an old time copper with a practical outlook to the job and life in general. He was always someone willing to help or advise. There were few gaffers that I had a deep respect for. He was one of them. Goodbye Sarge. Gonzo.

  5. When I remember Pete I do so with a smile on my face.I worked with him at Central in the 80s where I recall he was an excellent supervisor who was chilled and never seemed to get unfazed.I remember him best though when we used to play rugby together for the Notts force rugby team usually every wednesday.Pete was an excellent second row player who used to give his all in every game.I was the loose end prop forward who was propelled vigorously forward in thescrum by Pete.We spent may an happy hour together in thescrums and lineouts andwe were a formidable force. together along with other members ofthe team who were all characters. After we came off the field battered and bruised we were greeted by a familiar scene,Martin HEWITT sat on the changing room bench puffing away at one of his ciggies looking as though he had done a marathon.Happy Days eh.RIP old buddy love and best wishes to the family -Dave BEECROFT.
