i knew and worked with both Allan and Margaret. Allan was always the same helpful, knowledgeable and above all considerate in all he did. As a young officer he was approachable and over the years he had a joke with you, usually at your expense but in a nice way. You will be sadly missed

  2. l did not know Allan at all really. Think l met him once, however, l did work at Arnold with Margaret, 1974 -1980 and soon realised that she was a very nice lady who would always guide me in the right direction. Arnold was my first and only regular posting and so l saw a lot of the two Margaret’s who were there then. My thoughts are with Margaret at this time and R.I.P Allan.

  7. I worked with Allan in 1979 in Epperstone ControlRoom and later that year to FHQ Sherwood Lodge Control room. A nicer, pleasant man was he, never a cross word and became a good friend. In 1983, I was one of the team who instructed civilians to become control room operatives and Maggie Baggie was one of them, again a lovely lady to work with. My heart goes out to her and Rest in peace Allen.

  11. I worked with Allan in the Force Control Room between 1983-85. He was always most pleasant and sensible. He was very modest regarding his work as a Special, especially as he reached such a high rank, and he only informed me of this 3 years ago.

Latterly, I engaged with him at Traffic reunions at the Royal Oak, Edwinstowe and he was very good company.

My sincere condolences to Margaret. mick809

  12. I am deeply sorry to hear the sad news about Alan – a thoroughly decent, thoughtful, yet practical man who easily won the respect of those who knew him or worked alongside him. On a number of occasions back in the 1970’s, while on rural mobile patrol, I enjoyed the pleasure of Alan’s company and was very thankful for his assistance. We have lost a friend and a good man! My sincere condolences to his wife, Margaret.
