Book of Condolence – Retired Officer – Michael Eggleston

I am pleased to report that I have now spoken to family and report as follows:

Retired Police Sergeant 564 Michael (Mick) EGGLESTON sadly passed away on the 9th February 2025 at his Calverton home. He was 87yrs of age.

Mick came from a farming background until he joined the Nottingham City Police in July 1956. He worked the City Centre, Force Headquarters and for a time at Clifton Police Station. He retired in the Rank of Sergeant in December 1986. Following his retirement he went to work at Rothera’s Solicitors until his final retirement.

His first wife sadly passed away some 18 years ago but he was re-married to Evelyn, who in fact was his first wife’s sister. Mick leaves wife Evelyn, daughter Denise and son Ian and two grand-children Ruth and Robert who Mick adored.

A Cremation Service will be held at Gedling Crematorium on the 11th March 2025 (PLEASE NOTE – This is wholly private and for family only).

Following this there will be a Celebration of his Life to be held firstly at Calverton Baptist Church, Main Street, Calverton, Nottingham at 12.30pm Tuesday 11th March 2025. This will be followed by refreshments at the Calverton Working Mens Club (The Geordie Club), Collyer Road, Calverton NG14 6JX. The family would welcome friends and former colleagues to attend should they wish to do so and to pay their respects.

Family have requested that you attend in Spring Colours. Mick was an avid gardener and loved spring flowers.

Any donations can be made to Christian Aid.

The undertakers are Calverton Funeral Services of St. Wilfrid Square, Calverton.

Our thoughts and condolences are extended to the family at this very sad time.
