It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Mervyn Walter Headland, aged 91 years, a retired Special Constable.    Mervyn died on Sunday 3 April 2022.   Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.

The funeral took place at St Giles Church at Elksley on Wednesday 20 April 2022.

Mervyn joined the Nottinghamshire Force as a Special Constable and served for 32 years and retired as Commandant.  No further details known.

  1. Mervyn was a true friend and Gentleman and often spen time with me on duty when I was the Elkesley Village Bobby in the 1970’s. Treasured memories of times spent together and social events shared by our wives

  2. I first met Mervyn when as a Probationary Constable I was posted to Worksop. Mervyn was a dedicated Special Constable and Commandant. He gave immense support to “the regulars” and a credit to the Special Constabulary.

  3. I knew Mervyn in his latter years as a Special. He looked the part and was an excellent advertisement for the Specials. He was always friendly and very cooperative. A pleasure to have known and worked with him.
