Notification of the death of a Police Widow

It is with deep sorrow that we have to inform you of the death of Catherine Joan Shaw, aged 100 years. the widow of a retired Police Officer, Joan as she liked to be known by died on Wednesday 4th November 2020 after recently celebrating her 100th birthday. Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
The funeral is on 10.30am Wednesday 25 November 2020 at Wilford Hill Crematorium, Only family and close friends are allowed to attend. Anyone wishing to send flowers can do so but please send a bouquet as they will be taken to the care home that Joan was in. The funeral directors are the Co-operative Funeralcare at Clifton.
Joan was the widow of Harry Shaw who died in 1990. He joined the City Police and served at Clifton and Central and worked in the Coroners Office.

I did not know Harry’s Wife but worked with Harry both as a Cadet and Police Officer. He was such a real Gentleman with emphasis on the Gentle. My Condolences to all the Family at this sad time.

Harry and Joan were neighbours of my parents many years ago when I first joined the Police. A lovely couple who would help anyone in need.
