Notification of the death of a Police Widow

Maureen Galley

It is with sadness that we have to inform you of the death of Maureen Galley, aged 83 years.

 Maureen died on Thursday 3rd September 2020.  Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.  

Maureen was the widow of Maurice Galley who died in 2017.  Prior to joining the Police he was a professional footballer with Chesterfield Football Club.    He joined the County Force in 1963 and served at Arnold, Kirkby in Ashfield, Force Training School and the Force Control Room.     He continued playing football in the Police for the Division  and Force teams. He retired in 1990

Due to the Covid 19 restrictions numbers of people attending the funeral will be limited .

  1. I worked with Maurice in the Force Training School and consequently met Maureen with Maurice at the social events we arranged throughout the years. Two nicer people you could not wish to meet.

  2. Knew Maurice when I joined as a cadet and he was Training Dept.
    Absolutely lovely man with a good sense of humour and quick one liners . RIP Maurice
