  8. Sorry hear of Ian’s passing, I met up with him when we worked at EMA as seasonal immigration officers in 2017. As we had shared history of working in the City and that both our fathers had served in the City Police at similar times led to frequent pleasant discussions regarding all things Policing.
Condolences to his family and kind regards Ian Allsopp

  16. Hi
I worked with Iain at Clifton when he joined. He was a lovely guy with a great sense of humour. I remember we used to call him Tain McMincey because that’s what the CPS solicitor on a job of his kept calling him. We had a cracking shift then and I’m sure we’ll all miss you Iain.
My heartfelt condolences to your family

  19. I remember Iain with great fondness. A lovely lad with a great sense of humour. He was perfectly suited to being a copper and did the job as well as anyone I can think of. He’ll be sadly missed I know by his family first and foremost but his friends and colleagues too.

  20. I thought I did this yesterday but the comments do not seem to appear. I worked with Iain at Clifton and recall him as a humorous person who take take the ‘mike’ out of you but didn’t mind it being taken from him. This news was a bit of a shock and I can only offer my sympathies to his family, there are no words that adequately cater for this situation. I remember him and his previous job where socks were important. I’m sure his loss will be felt much further than just family.

  22. I worked with Iain in the late 90’s when I was a Control Operator on his shift. He was such a lovely man, he used to make me cry with laughter and it was even funnier when he started laughing too as it was such a loud boom!
We used to call him Tain McMincey after a badly addressed letter to him and for some reason that I can’t remember he used to call me Perry.
I was incredibly fond of him and when I heard he was poorly late last year had arranged to visit the Silver Fox with an old shift mate when he felt well enough after his latest treatment, sadly it was not to be.
I will never forget Iain and I send my heartfelt condolences to his family who he used to talk so much about, my thoughts are with you all X

  25. Iain, what can I say? You are missed already. Great bloke, great Cop & great friend, enjoyed working with you, and being able to continue that at EMA, when you took over from me with the CAA. It was always a lovely time spent ‘pre flight’ if you happened to be at EMA, and we could fill in a few surveys together. RIP mate. Tris Robinson

  26. I don’t know why Iain passed away but I do know it was too soon and many people will be affected by him leaving us. I can still hear his voice resonating around the old Clifton Nick. He was unique, distinctive, passionate and cared for those he served and those he worked with. We are all diminished by him passing but there’s a warm feeling just to remember him.

    Smile and remember……
